Back to Basics

In 2025, I want to get back to basics, addressing those raw emotions that many of us share, like anger, sadness, and joy, as well as those basic constructs that are fundamental to our lives as Christians, like truth, forgiveness, and faith.

Whatever happens, whatever we need, I know God will provide (Philippians 4:19). If He doesn’t, He works it for our good (Romans 8:28).

Still, I RAMP up my life in God:

Realize.           Hosea 4:6

Abscise.          Isaiah 1:16

Memorize.       Deuteronomy 6:6-9

Prioritize.         Matthew 22:37-39

For example, I can’t expect God to heal my body, restore my career, and grant me financial increase when I refuse to eat healthy, exercise, find a job, or stop spending on credit.

Or when I show little regard for His word in my life.

I give as much as I can for Him to work with and trust in His timing, providence and outcome. I don’t get it right every time, but I try.

Getting back to basics means revisiting those concepts that are central to our development as Christians, learning to be in this world but not of it (Romans 12:2). In so doing, we demonstrate that we prioritize God over everyone and everything else in our lives. God demonstrates His power on behalf of His children (2 Chronicles 16:9), and we stand in awe and praise Him (Psalm 100:1-2). That is the Christian way of life, and it is available to all who seek Him (Isaiah 55:1).

Happy New Year!
