Most of us get into relationships without a second thought, usually based on something we want: to have a partner; to have children; or to have more money. And the results can be deleterious. We rationalize that whatever we got out of it was worth what we lost.
When it comes to having a relationship with God, we tend to do the opposite. We take our time. We weigh the pros and cons, and the obedience aspect even more. We need to be sure of…something.
But Paul got it right:
I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death nor life, neither angels or demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow—not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love. No power in the sky above or in the earth below—indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord.
-Romans 8:38, 39, New Living Translation
God loves us because He is Love (1 John 4:8).
Regarding time:
A day is like a thousand years to the Lord, and a thousand years is like a day. The Lord isn’t really being slow about his promise, as some people think. No, he is being patient for your sake. He does not want anyone to be destroyed, but wants everyone to repent.
-2 Peter 3:8, 9, New Living Translation
God cares about our relationships. But most importantly, He cares about our relationship with Him through His Son Jesus Christ.
Learn the heart of Jesus. Convince yourself of His Love for you, and what He desires for you in your relationships with others.
